Academics with Outstanding Performance in Academic Achievement Were Awarded

At Bartın University (BARÜ), the “Academic Attire and Academic Performance Award Ceremony” was held to encourage academic achievement and scientific productivity.

The ceremony recognized academics who demonstrated success in academic promotion, scientific publications, projects, and innovation. A total of 80 academics who achieved academic promotion during the 2024–2025 academic year—including 26 professors, 13 associate professors, and 41 assistant professors (PhD lecturers)—were applauded on stage, along with 58 academics who stood out for their scientific work and research performance. The program, held at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences – Faculty of Education Conference Hall, began with a moment of silence and the singing of the Turkish National Anthem, followed by a musical performance.

The musical performance prepared by Dr. Lecturer Reha Sarıkaya from the Department of Fine Arts Education, Faculty of Education at BARÜ, and music teacher Kadir Güvenç was highly appreciated.

Rector Akkaya: “With this ceremony, we will crown the academic strength of our University.”

In his opening speech, BARÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya stated:
“Academic attire is an important symbol that has a deep-rooted history, reflects university tradition, and represents the scientific identity of faculty members. The dedication, research efforts, and scientific productivity of our academics are among the most fundamental factors shaping our University’s national and international success. It is very important to recognize this effort and dedication. With these thoughts, I congratulate our academics and wish them continued success in this ceremony where we crown the academic strength of our University.”

Following the opening speech, the “Academic Attire Ceremony” was held. Cübbes and professorship certificates were presented to 26 newly promoted professors by Rector Akkaya. Additionally, 13 associate professors and 41 assistant professors were applauded on stage.

Academics with outstanding performance in academic productivity were awarded

The program continued with the “Academic Performance Award Ceremony,” where faculty members with the highest number of publications in internationally indexed journals in 2024 were invited to the stage. Academics distinguished by their high-quality scientific work and research performance were evaluated across the fields of Education Sciences, Philology, Theology, Social, Human and Administrative Sciences, Sports Sciences, Fine Arts, as well as Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Engineering, Health Sciences, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and Architecture, Planning and Design.

A total of 58 academics were awarded in four categories: Diamond, Gold, Silver, and Bronze, and were congratulated on stage with certificates of achievement.

From our faculty, the following academics were awarded:

  • Diamond category: Prof. Dr. Fatma Sönmez Çakır, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hande Küçükönder
  • Gold category: Prof. Dr. Ümmühan Avcı, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Devran Şanlı
  • Bronze category: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Havanur Ergün Tatar

The program, attended by members of the provincial protocol, academic and administrative staff, and students, concluded with a group photo session.
