Times Higher Education (THE), one of the organizations that ranks higher education institutions on an international scale, has announced the '2024 Asia University Rankings' (Asia University Ranking 2024). Making its debut in the rankings this year, Bartın University (BARÜ) once again demonstrated its accelerating success, positioning itself among the most successful higher education institutions in Asia.
BARÜ Enters the Rankings in the 351-400 Band
In this ranking, which serves as a regional academic performance mapping for universities in Asia, evaluations were made based on 18 performance indicators. BARÜ achieved significant success by entering the overall ranking in the 351-400 band out of 739 universities from 31 regions. In the 'Research Quality' category, BARÜ ranked 181st in Asia.
High Rankings in Turkey
Evaluated based on performance assessment criteria including education, research quality, citations, knowledge transfer, and international outlook, adapted to the qualifications of institutions in Asia, BARÜ shared the 16th position among the 75 higher education institutions in Turkey that made it to the ranking. In the same ranking, BARÜ also secured the 5th position in the 'Research Quality' category.
"Our Achievements Reflect in International Ranking Institutions"
Expressing satisfaction with the reflection of academic achievements of the university in international ranking institutions, BARÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Orhan Uzun stated, "We are proud of our scientific studies, qualified publications, and research with high technological impact, showing a development to be proud of. By focusing on increasing academic productivity and research quality, we are increasing our visibility in the academic world with the successes we have achieved in international rankings. Experiencing the joy of being among the best universities in Asia by achieving a similar success in the Asia University Rankings as in the World University Rankings, where universities' academic performance in various fields is evaluated with different criteria, we sincerely believe that our position in these rankings will rise even higher in the coming years. I congratulate all the members of the BARÜ family who contributed to this process, and I extend my thanks to our support from Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, the President of the Higher Education Council (YÖK), and all the members of YÖK for their support in our journey of ongoing efforts toward sustainable development."
Times Higher Education (THE) Rankings
Times Higher Education (THE) ranks institutions in education, research environment, research quality, industry income, and international outlook. Demonstrating how the global higher education landscape is changing, THE organizes rankings in 18 separate categories across 5 areas, considering its own dynamics.
Different from the World University Rankings, which provide the most comprehensive evaluation, THE revises the Asia University Rankings to reflect the characteristics of institutions in Asia while using the same 18 performance indicators. Accordingly, THE has made significant updates to the original methodology for the 2024 edition of the Asia Rankings."
