Dr. Mehmet Said Köse Auditorium" was inaugurated with a ceremony
Our Faculty's "Dr. Mehmet Said Köse Auditorium," named after Mehmet Said Köse, who served as an Assistant Professor in our Department of International Trade and Logistics until his sudden passing on September 23, 2023, due to a sudden illness, was inaugurated with a simple ceremony held in the amphitheater bearing his name on May 17, 2024, at 2:30 PM.
The ceremony was attended by our University Rector, Prof. Dr. Orhan UZUN, our Vice-Rectors Prof. Dr. Mehmet ZAHMAKIRAN and Prof. Dr. Sevim ÇELİK, our University Secretary Prof. Dr. Selçuk GÜMÜŞ, our Personnel Department Head Turgay DELİALİOĞLU, our Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Metin SABAN, Dean of the Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Fatma ÜNAL, as well as the academic and administrative staff of our Faculty and our faculty students.
The opening program of the "Dr. Mehmet Said Köse Auditorium," hosted by our Faculty Vice Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ramazan ARSLAN and assisted by Research Assistant Tuba KOÇER, began with the recitation of the Quran by İsmail KAYA, a lecturer from the Faculty of Islamic Sciences, followed by a prayer led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet ERGÜN from the same faculty. The second prayer was delivered by Mustafa Abdurrahim, a student from the Department of International Trade and Logistics, where the late Dr. Köse served. A message sent by the late Dr. Köse's wife, Gülden ASLAN KÖSE, to be read during the program was conveyed by Research Assistant Ferhat DEMİRCİ from the Department of Business Administration, and his resume was read by Research Assistant Tuba KOÇER from the Department of International Trade and Logistics. Meanwhile, a slideshow containing photographs encapsulating memories of the late Dr. Köse was projected onto the screen.
The program continued with commemorative speeches. The first speech was delivered by Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Halil KARLI, the Head of the Department of International Trade and Logistics, where the late Dr. Köse served. Karlı, experiencing emotional moments at the beginning of his speech, was unable to complete his speech due to the overwhelming emotions, leaving the lectern. This emotional state of our department head became a reflection of deeper sentiments, creating a solemn atmosphere in the room. This atmosphere of sadness influenced the sharing of many memories about our late colleague by his friends. Additionally, the President of the Civil Society Organization, Sezai HANGİŞİ, shared his memories with the late Dr. Köse. Following the reminiscences, the program continued with a speech by our Faculty Dean, Prof. Dr. Metin SABAN. In his speech, our Dean noted the significant contributions of the late Mehmet Said Köse to our faculty since its establishment, emphasizing his important efforts in the establishment and development of the Department of International Trade and Logistics. He also highlighted that the late Dr. Köse was a beloved lecturer in our faculty, a fact witnessed by those filling the hall. Expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to the naming of our amphitheater after our colleague, especially to our University Rector Prof. Dr. Orhan UZUN and relevant Boards of Directors, he wished well for the amphitheater and reiterated his condolences.
Invited to make the final speech of the program, our University Rector Prof. Dr. Orhan UZUN expressed his wishes for the "Dr. Mehmet Said Köse Auditorium" to be auspicious. He expressed his satisfaction with the request to name the amphitheater after the late Dr. Köse, stating that they had concluded this process in a very short time and were happy about it. He thanked all the members of the Board of Directors who signed the decision to open the amphitheater and everyone involved.
Referring to the fact that our colleague left behind a pleasant echo, he observed this sentiment in the hall as well. Our Rector emphasized that our grief is still fresh and concluded his speech by once again extending his condolences to the late colleague and his loved ones.
After the commemorative speeches, the program ended with a group photo taken in front of the "Dr. Mehmet Said Köse Auditorium" as a memento of the day.
